The Liberty Games Moment That Stopped the Competition

Residents from across the Southeast gathered in Raleigh for the annual Liberty Games hosted by Liberty Senior Living. The event connects communities through friendly competition and shared experiences. Held this year at Hayes Barton Place, the Games welcomed 150 residents from 12 communities competing in races, billiards, Yarts, and more.

For Cookie Finkelstein, a resident of South Bay, the most meaningful moment had nothing to do with competition. During the event she reconnected with Arleen Golden a resident of Wellington Bay a Liberty Senior Living community in Wellington Florida. Arleen is a friend Cookie first met at age 15 and had not seen in 67 years. What began as a chance reunion quickly became something deeper. The two women recognized each other immediately and spent of the Games side by side moving between events meals conversations.

Over decades they built lives in different states, but Liberty Games reunited them at the right moment again. The reunion became the heart of the event the Games are more than competition connection that lasts a lifetime.
